Homecoming Day will begin with the Ragin' Road Race at 8 a.m.
The 5K run will start and end at the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Lafayette Alumni Center, 600 E. St. Mary Blvd. It will conclude by 10 a.m.
After the race, runners can duck into the Alumni Center’s open house for refreshments, including breakfast. The open house will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Visitors can watch the Homecoming Parade from the front lawn of the Alumni Center.
The parade will roll at 10 a.m., from Blackham Coliseum. It will travel east on Johnston Street, turn right onto St. Mary Boulevard, and end at the Alumni Center.
The parade will feature members of student organizations, who build and decorate floats.
The Pride of Acadiana Marching Band, members of the Homecoming Court, University president Dr. Joseph Savoie, and alumni also will ride in the parade.
So, too, will Ron Guidry, the former Ragin’ Cajuns pitcher and New York Yankees All-Star. He will be inducted into the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Lafayette Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Hall of Fame at halftime of the Homecoming gridiron battle against the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½M Warhawks. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. at Cajun Field.
First, however, is "Trick-or-Treat Tailgate…Cajun Style" from 1-3 p.m. Tailgaters are asked to bring candy for children, who are encouraged to wear costumes. Several trick-or-treaters will be selected to receive prizes on the field during a timeout.
For safety reasons, the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Lafayette Police Department is reminding the public that no one over 12 years old will be allowed to wear a Halloween mask or costume that covers his or her face inside the stadium. Face painting for fans of any age will be allowed.
