Food Certification Course Set Aug. 14

LAFAYETTE – Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Lafayette will offer an all-day food safety certification seminar for food service employees on Aug. 14.

Every food service establishment is required to have either its owner or a designated employee certified in food safety, according to a law approved by the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Legislature in 2001. This seminar provides accurate, detailed information for all levels of food service employees, including those who handle, receive, clean, store, prepare and serve food.

It will cover the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points' method to prevent problems caused by food-borne illnesses.

The course will use a ServSafe® study packet, which covers a review of sanitary food preparation. The ServSafe® certification exam is given during the final hour of the course. Certification is valid for five years. A ServSafe textbook is included in the course fee of $175.
