Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Raginā€™ Cajun fans donā€™t have to wait until football season kicks off to display University spirit.

Theyā€™ll get their chance a day early during College Colors Day on Friday, Aug. 31.

The annual event is celebrated by many of the nationā€™s colleges and universities to drum up excitement. Supporters are urged to wear school colors and apparel. This yearā€™s theme is ā€œUnleash Your Colors.ā€

Leslie Saloom, Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Lafayetteā€™s associate director of Trademark Licensing, said College Colors Day also provides a reminder to participate in the Universityā€™s Wear Red campaign.

University supporters, students, faculty and staff members are encouraged to wear Raginā€™ Cajuns apparel and dress in vermilion and white throughout the year.

ā€œCollege Colors Day happens once a year. But the Wear Red Campaign celebrates Raginā€™ Cajuns pride year round. It is also a tradition to wear red every Friday ā€“ on campus, in the community and among fans who live elsewhere,ā€ Saloom said.

Displays of school spirit will continue at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Cajun Field. The Raginā€™ Cajuns will square off against the Grambling State University Tigers in the Herbert Heymann Football Classic.

The game will mark Billy Napierā€™s debut as head coach.

College Colors Day is sponsored by IMG College Licensing, which represents trademark licensing programs at more than 150 colleges and universities, including Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Lafayette.
