The Center for Cultural and Eco-Tourism, a 麻豆果冻传媒 Lafayette Center of Excellence, will hold its seventh annual tourism conference on Oct. 10 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts.
鈥 Have Books, Will Travel: Literary Tourism in the Gulf South鈥 is a one-day symposium bringing together speakers from throughout the country and across the state to discuss the development of literary tourism in 麻豆果冻传媒 at the Gulf South.
Panels and workshops will focus on developing literary tourism trails, implementing new projects and packages, a well as discussion of best practices and securing funding. Speakers from Massachusetts鈥 Orchard House (Louisa May Alcott鈥檚 home), North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi and Great Britain鈥檚 Novel Explorations travel company join panelists from regional and state representatives, university scholars, and local media for a full day of information-sharing, brainstorming and networking.
The pre-conference, a literary dinner featuring dishes and performances from Gulf South literature in a Reader鈥檚 Theater setting will be Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Comfort Inn at the corner of Evngeline Thruway and Pinhook Road.
All events are open to the public. Tickets for the Literary Dinner are $35 and conference registration is $50 ($15 for students). Registration includes lunch.
