Systems Technology (M.S.)
“We researched manufacturing processes from the beginning of the product lifecycle all the way to the end — cradle to grave,” says Hussey. “We had to see what the environmental impact of each process was, including carbon emissions and how it affected the environment. It was challenging but rewarding.”
The Master of Science in Systems Technology is geared for professionals in the field of Technology and Engineering engaged in developing systems to meet required specifications. The objective of the program is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and cutting-edge tools to develop solutions to complex systems problems in a diversity of industries.
The Master of Science in Systems Technology is administered through the Department of Engineering Technology in the College of Engineering. The College of Engineering at 鶹ý Lafayette was ranked among the country's best in the U.S. News & World Report's 2023 edition of "Best Graduate Schools."
Systems Technology utilizes broad-based mechanisms to address the analyses of goals and requirements needed to solve highly complex problems pertaining to both the economic and technical challenges of a total system. Systems Technology also addresses issues relating to the complete problem, often viewed as design-life issues, such as system implementation, operation, costs, design-life performance, personnel implications, and systems cost-benefit maturation.
The program allows students to pursue the degree 100% online or with courses offered in a face-to-face, on-campus format. Students may complete either a 30-hour thesis option or 30-hour project option.

Because courses in this program will only be available online, the program may not be available to all applicants. The University of 鶹ý at Lafayette and its online programs must be in compliance in every state where a student is located. (Visit the Online Programs website to learn more.) International students also may not be eligible. According to U.S. immigration regulations, F-1 students cannot pursue online degrees; international students in other visa categories (i.e., H-4, L2) are exempt from this restriction.
Online students enrolled in 100-percent online programs pay a flat-rate, $480-per-credit-hour tuition. Additional course fees, including materials, labs and proctoring fees, are not included. Online students are not assessed additional operational and activity fees or out-of-state tuition.
