History (M.A.)

The Department of History, Geography and Philosophy offers broad fields of study as well as a vibrant and collegial academic community to its graduate students.

The program prepares its graduates to enter a variety of fields including archival and museum work, government policy and research positions, publishing, teaching, and Ph.D. programs.

The Master of Arts in history offers courses in four areas -European, Latin American, Public, and United States history - as well as both thesis and non-thesis options.

The Public History concentration also includes a hands-on internship and allows for an expanded public history project such as a museum exhibit, historic preservation plan, or oral history collection.
